dhanyasi Raag

DhanyAsi, an audova Sampoorna Ragha, is usually sung in the morning as well as during ending of a two hour performance.

An youngster sings BALAKRISHNAN PADAMALAR set in Raag dhanyasi here:

My mom used to sing a very popular song EKANKENNA MANAKKAVALAI. MY MOM IS NO MORE BUT MY WIFE SINGS THIS SONG. HER VOICE IS NOT AS IT WAS SOME FORTY YEARS AGO BUT STILL TOLERABLE AND I am lucky that I still find the Dhanyasi raag there, though my learned sister may dispute in her mind my statement.

A teacher of Carnatic music in his class room:

Dhanyasi belongs to:
8 hanumatODi janya
Its arohanam and avarohanam are:
Aa: S G2 M1 P N2 S
Av: S N2 D1 P M1 G2 R1 S

One of the compelling Delights of Dr.Balamuralikrishna is
THARAKA MANTHRAMU.

This song is possibly as old as me. I do not know whether it is sung by anyone now.

What would knowledge of Music alone do if it does not combine devotion to the Almighty, asks the composer of this very famous Kirthana.
Listen it here. The style has however become different from the times when my mom used to sing this five decades ago.

If someone knows the text of the pasuram in full, please pen the same in COMMENTS COLUMN.

Dhanashree is the Hindusthani Classical Raag which is close to this Raag. Soon, I shall be placing a video here, by a popular musician.
